Greek Language Courses with Dr Mario Cignoni – Academic Year 2026–27

We are pleased to draw your attention to the Greek language and New Testament studies courses offered by FVT and taught by Dr Mario Cignoni during the first and second semesters of the 2026–27 Academic Year.

 

The courses offer different opportunities for study and further development, from an introduction to New Testament Greek to the study of Classical Greek and manuscript tradition:

 

• Greek I – Morphology and Syntax for Reading the New Testament: a course designed both for beginners and for those wishing to refresh their knowledge of Greek. Through grammar lessons, exercises, and the reading of texts, participants will acquire the basic skills needed to understand and translate simple passages from the New Testament in the original language and to pursue further study of the text.

 

• Introduction to Classical Greek and Codicology: a course combining an introduction to Classical Greek, through selected passages from Plato’s dialogues, with the study of the earliest Greek manuscripts of the New Testament, including papyri and codices. This course is eligible for supplementary academic credit.

 

These courses offer a valuable opportunity to explore the Greek language, the texts of the New Testament, and their manuscript tradition through a structured and enriching programme of study.
